Welcome to Willow Medical Practice

11TH August 2020

Our Ashton Road surgery remains temporarily closed due to the Covid-19 Pandemic.  This is to limit the crossover of staff between surgeries and to limit the possible transmission of the virus between patients and staff.  All available existing services for our Ashton Surgery Patients have been relocated to our Andersonstown Road Branch.

We sincerely thank you for your support and understanding.

Due to the Coronavirus pandemic we have also suspended emergency & routine face to face appointments with the GP. Again, this is to reduce the chance of transmission of Coronavirus to other patients and staff. Whilst we are unable to offer routine face to face appointments we have remained open throughout the pandemic and are offering telephone consultations instead.  When you call the surgery, the receptionist will ask what the telephone appointment is regarding. Due to the sheer volume of calls we are currently receiving, this will help us prioritize those who need a return call urgently.  If the Doctor feels you need to be seen face to face, they will book an appointment for you to come to the surgery.

If you feel you need to see or speak to a doctor you must phone the surgery on 02890 611411 between 09.00-11:00 am.  A member of our reception team will take your details and the member of our Practice Team who is best placed to help you will phone you back.

Our childhood vaccination clinics are running as normal; please phone the surgery to book an appointment.

If you are given an appointment by the Doctor or Nurse, unless you require assistance due to mobility/disability problems etc. please come to the surgery alone.  On arrival you will have your temperature checked on and asked to sanitise your hands. You will be required to wear a face covering before you enter the practice, please bring this with you.  The doctor or nurse treating you will be wearing PPE (apron, face mask and gloves).

Due to the time taken to put on and take off PPE safely and to ensure appropriate social distancing our treatment room capacity has reduced. We are still performing essential services (for example INR and DMARD monitoring, as well as many others).  Cervical screening has now resumed, we are currently working through a backlog of patients so your appointment may be slightly delayed.  We are also beginning to review many of our patients with chronic diseases such as asthma, COPD and Diabetes.  This may take the form of a telephone or video consultation.

If you are requesting a prescription please phone between 11am and 4pm each day.  You must nominate a pharmacist where you would like to get your medication; you cannot call to the surgery to collect the prescription yourself.  We have arranged for local pharmacists to collect the prescriptions from the surgery. Please allow 72 hours for this process.

We apologise for any inconvenience and realise this is a worrying and rapidly changing situation, your co-operation is appreciated.  We are working tirelessly to make this transition to a temporary new way of working as smooth as possible, and to reduce the disruption for our patients. We will inform you of ongoing changes to appointments through regular updates on the website.

Do not come to the surgery if you have any symptoms of Coronavirus or have been asked to self isolate as this

You can now request a Covid-19 test if you have symptoms by phoning 119.
